Please send a special message of love to MVP’s founder Laurie Cohen and help us to sustain her mission!

Laurie Cohen, the founder and director of Mill Valley Philharmonic, retired from her work with the orchestra at the end of May following our presentation of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. We are inviting supporters to make a special gift in honor of Laurie, helping us build on her legacy and sustain her vision of MVP as an orchestra of music “by the community, for the community” for many years to come.

This is an exciting moment in Mill Valley Philharmonic’s 18-year history. Under Laurie’s leadership and through her hard work and dedication, MVP has not only expanded in size, from a small string group to a full symphony orchestra but has grown in the caliber of our musicians and the scope and quality of our performances. MVP plays to over 3,000 people a year, in diverse venues that serve the local communities of Marin and beyond. Our work serves our musician members, emerging composers whose work we commission, local soloists, and most important, music lovers like you. We are deeply grateful to our audience for sharing our journey and contributing the funds that have made it possible.

We are now embarking on the next stage of the adventure: sustaining and building upon Laurie’s vision of MVP. MVP’s success and mission attracted strong candidates for the Executive Director and Artistic Director positions she filled. Richard Aldag has been engaged as Executive Director and three fine guest conductors – Paul Phillips, Dana Sadava, and Alexander Kahn – will take the podium for the coming season.

It costs over $100,000 each year to run MVP and provide free concerts to our community. Please make a special gift to commemorate Laurie and help MVP start this next leg of our journey on sound financial footing.

All donors, large and small, to this special legacy campaign will be acknowledged in a special listing in our 2018-19 season programs and on the MVP website.

Thank you for coming along on our journey!
